Travelling with a baby can be very demanding and sometimes very frustrating, especially if you travel on your own. There are a few products that made my life much easier when travelling with our baby daughter. She was only three months old when we went for a family holiday for the first time. At that time she loved flying and was mostly sleeping on a plane. As she was getting older, it was getting more and more difficult to keep her entertained. One of my tips about flying is to breastfeed/bottle feed your baby when taking off or landing. Baby Carriers and SlingsOne of the products I could not imagine being without was a sling. We decided for a BabyBjorn Baby Carrier Original. We were very happy with it and Isabelle loved being carried around in it. Quite often when she was crying and there was nothing to calm her down, I would put her in her sling and within seconds she would stop crying and most of the time she would fall asleep. Also when travelling without my husband, when I needed to have my hands free, having Isabelle in her carrier helped a lot. I have stopped using it only because she is too big for it now. There are also carriers for older babies. I especially liked the features of two toddler carriers: - Bushbaby lite carrier- it is ultra lightweight and has been awarded by many parents as the best toddler carrier.
- Chicco Caddy Backpack
- with some extra features ( removable pouch that can be used as a belt bag, a mobile phone and glasses pocket)
Travel baby cots
A travel cot is another product you will need when travelling. We chose a travel cot with a toy bar. It is quite small when folded, easy to assemble and not very heavy. It can be used as a playpen as well. My tipsSamsonite pop up travel cot- it pops up to a full size cot and comes with a mattress and a mosquito net. It has been awarded as the best travel item by Mother & Baby magazine and also voted as one of the 10 best baby gadgets in the Independant. Concord Lima folding travel chair- some of the features I liked about this chair were that it can be fixed to any chair, it has an easy-to-remove detachable tray and when folded it fits in a carry bag. Pop Open Play Gym- this machine washable play gym must be great for travelling. It pops open when lies flat and folds away as a carry bag. My First Ready Bed- it is all in one inflatable bed and sleeping bag. It has side bolsters to prevent rolling out of bed. A great idea for staying over at grandparents or on holiday. Trunki- Designed for family holidays, children can pack, sit-on and ride their own luggage, whilst parents can keep them in tow. Gro Anywhere Travel Blind is fantastic - it goes up and down quickly and simply, is easy to adjust to any window size and packs away compactly.
